Richmond upon Thames annual programme of dance features vibrant performances, engaging courses and exciting dance residencies in a host of venues throughout the borough. Delivered in partnership with a range of dance providers, Dance Richmond aims to increase opportunities for everyone to get dancing.

RichDance the history

RichDance was set up in 2002 by the Arts Service to give young people and dance schools the opportunity to perform and showcase their choreography. RichDance has developed and is now bigger than ever with 300 participants taking part last year. RichDance celebrates dance in all its forms so if you are a tango quartet, a break dancing group or a contemporary dance company you are all welcome to submit an application form!

  • Emerging choreographers
  • Centres for Advanced training
  • Community groups
  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate student groups

Please note the maximum number of dancers per group is 25.

New 2010 Venue!

This year RichDance will take place on Saturday 13 March and Sunday 14 March 2010 at the Live Room at Twickenham Rugby Football Union. This site boasts a 300 seat theatre, good parking and transport links. You can view a floor plan, images and a virtual tour of the Live Room.

New Young Emerging Choreographer’s Platform!

This year we have one slot on both Saturday and Sunday for young emerging choreographers to present a dance piece. We would like receive applications from undergraduate, postgraduate or students studying at a centre for advanced training. We believe that this will inspire the future dance makers in the audience and those that are already taking part in the festival! Anyone wishing to showcase their work should complete an application form; with a CV and a short DVD of previous work. The deadline is also Monday 14 December 2009.

Application process

We endeavour to include as many groups as possible and groups showcasing dance of different genres giving a balanced and exciting programme. We also have a waiting list for both days if you are unsuccessful in you’re application. All applicants will be informed by Friday 8 January if they have been selected.
