Reading groups

Reading groups can be an informal meeting of friends, or an organised gathering set up in a library or bookshop. We offer reading groups at all of our branches.

Join a library reading group

There is no charge to become a member of a reading group. We would encourage you to become a library member, but there’s no charge for this either.

We offer both daytime and evening reading groups. 

Set up your own reading group

We are keen to support and encourage local reading groups. 

We will provide the facilitator of your group with a reading group membership card at your local library. Books can be issued for an extended loan period of up to eight weeks, if required.

Register your group

Email promotions@richmond.gov.uk or call 020 8734 3325 - we will need the following information:

• Name of reading group
• Name of contact person
• Email, phone, date of birth, and address
• Book collection branch
• Number of members in the reading group

Booksets

Once your group is registered, you will be able to easily browse available book titles from home by looking at our list of booksets:

• Short version (by author) (pdf, 132 KB)
• Long version (by author) (pdf, 1.7 MB)
• Short version (by title) (pdf, 121 KB)
• Long version (by title) (pdf, 2.5 MB)

Most sets have at least 12 copies plus a large print edition and audio CD where available.

The booksets are kept centrally for loan to reading groups and can be requested by emailing promotions@richmond.gov.uk in advance and listing two or three title choices in order of preference, the number of copies you require for your group and the library you would like to collect them from.
