A general election will be held on Thursday 12 December for residents in Richmond to elect a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Twickenham and Richmond Park constituencies. This page will be updated throughout the election period with information including who your candidates are and where to vote.

Poll cards will be sent to eligible electors who are registered to vote by 1 November, in the week commencing Monday 11 November 2019. Anyone who registers to vote after 1 November will have their poll card sent out at a later date. It is important to remember you do not need your poll card to be able to vote - just go to your designated polling station and if you are registered you will be issued with a ballot paper.
If you have applied for a postal vote, we will send you a postal poll card that will tell you when and where we will send your postal vote.
If you are registered to vote and eligible to vote at UK Parliamentary elections, we will send you a poll card (see above).
The deadline for registering to vote was midnight on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
If you have recently become a British citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland or a citizen of another Commonwealth country you must make a new application for registration in order to be added to the electoral register for UK Parliamentary General elections.
To vote in the General Election on 12 December, your application must have been received no later than midnight on Tuesday 26 November.
The deadline for applying to vote by post in the General Election, or for cancelling or amending an existing postal vote, was 5pm on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
Postal votes cannot be sent out until we know who the candidates are. We will then be able to print the ballot papers. We will know who the candidates are 19 working days before the election and aim to issue all postal votes as soon as possible. Anyone applying for a postal vote closer to the legal deadline will have their ballot paper issued later due to the time it takes to print and check the paperwork.

These dates cannot be guaranteed and may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Postal votes will be sent out by first-class post with Royal Mail. We must receive your returned postal voting pack by 10pm on Thursday 12 December or your vote will not count.
If you want to vote by proxy (where you appoint someone else to vote on your behalf) you must complete an application form. The deadline for us to receive your completed form was 5pm on Wednesday 4 December 2019. See further details about proxy voting.
Note - your appointed proxy will have to vote at the polling station you would ordinarily vote at. The deadline for an appointed proxy to apply for a postal vote to vote on your behalf was 5pm on Tuesday 26 November.
