New CPZ for West Twickenham comes into force

Release Date: 22 May 2018

A new controlled parking zone (CPZ) has been implemented in West Twickenham following petitions from residents and extensive consultation.

The scheme has been implemented in the Colne Road area north of Twickenham Green.

The CPZ came into operation from 21 May 2018 and will operate from 8.30am to 6.30pm Mondays through Saturdays.

Cllr Alexander Ehmann, Cabinet Member Designate for Transport, Streetscene and Air Quality said:

“The majority of residents have told us that they want this CPZ to help alleviate parking problems and traffic congestion in the West Twickenham area.

“The Council has carried out a number of meaningful consultations on the CPZ, and these proposals have received strong support.

“Parking spaces will be designated for the use of local residents and those businesses with a permit. In addition, pay and display spaces will also be provided for the use of visitors and to help our local shops and businesses to continue to flourish.”

The scheme is being implemented by way of Experimental Traffic Order, reviewable after six months.

Notes for editors

It is anticipated Cllr Ehmann will be elected Cabinet Member for Transport, Streetscene and Air Quality at the Annual Full Council meeting on the 22 May 2018.
