Primary School offers day

20 April 2022

98% of in-borough applicants in Richmond upon Thames have been offered a place at one of their first three preferred primary schools.

Yesterday (Tuesday 19 April), Richmond Council made the initial allocation of Reception class offers for this September. This year, the parents/carers of 1,991 children applied for a place – compared with 2,049 last year.

90% have been offered a place at their first preference primary school, compared to last year’s figure of 92%. In addition, 98% have been offered one of their top three preferences (99% last year) and 99% have received one of their preferences per se (the same as last year).

Currently there are no children without an offer of a primary school place, which is the same as last year.

Ian Dodds, Director of Children’s Services for Richmond Council, said:

"Richmond’s schools are deservedly popular because they offer excellent, inclusive education for local children, and I am very pleased that all applicants have been offered a place."
