Celebrate Lunar New Year in Twickenham
Community news on behalf of Discover Twickenham | 18 January 2023
Join us and celebrate the Lunar New Year on the streets of Twickenham.
2023 marks the Year of the Rabbit, which symbolises luck and patience.
The celebrations will take place on Saturday 21 January from 1 to 4pm. Following the success from last year’s events, we will once again celebrate with a special performance by the Chinese Lion Dancers.
The Lion Dancers will entertain crowds as they parade from Twickenham Green at 1pm, making their way along Heath Road to Church Street.
A range of Lunar New Year activities will take place at Diamond Jubilee Gardens throughout the day including:
- Latern-making
- Calligraphy
- Learn some Chinese phrases
- A Chinese themed Punch and Judy Show
Guests will have a chance to meet the lion and watch him perform, with the final dance happening at 2.45pm in the gardens.
The event is free to attend. All activities will take place in our gazebo kindly provided by Twickenham Riverside Trust.
