Take part in the Butterfly Hunt in Mereway Nature Park to assess the health of our local environment

27 July 2021

Take part in the annual walk in Mereway Nature Park and join Big Butterfly Count, a nationwide survey helping to assess the health of our environment. Over 113,500 people took part in 2019, submitting 116,009 counts of butterflies and day-flying moths from across the UK.

This event, on Wednesday 28 July, is specifically arranged to identify butterflies in your local area so you can download the Big Butterfly Chart to tick them off.

The meeting point will be at the noticeboard at Mereway Nature Park beside the River Crane - where there are woods, grassland and park environments to find different varieties of butterflies and moths.

Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather on that day. Bring water and suncream is also advised. Registration is essential as numbers are limited.
