London's largest children's literature festival returns to Barnes

9 June 2021

The Barnes Children's Literature Festival returns this month with a fantastic programme of events for 2021.

The UK's number one bestselling children's authors Julia Donaldson and Sir Michael Morpurgo are just two of the big names appearing when the Barnes Children's Literature Festival returns with in person events on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June.

Julia and Sir Michael will lead another stellar line up with more than 60 Covid-safe events starring former UK Children's Laureates Dame Jacqueline Wilson and Lauren Child, superstar illustrator Axel Scheffler and comedian Julian Clary.

They’ll be joined by master storyteller Frank Cottrell-Boyce, the Costa Children’s Book Award winner Hilary McKay and a rare festival appearance by children's literature legend, Helen Oxenbury.

Other highlights include the Covid for Kids science show with Professor Tom Solomon, the ABC of Opera with international artist Mark Llewelyn Evans and family storytelling sessions with Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Tickets are on sale from the festival website.
