Two new affordable housing sites announced for Hampton Wick and Heathfield wards
14 June 2021
Two new housing developments in the Hampton Wick and Heathfield wards will deliver new affordable homes for local residents. The sites will be completed by the Council’s housing provider Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP).
The new development completed at Bucklands Road is on a small RHP estate in the Hampton Wick ward. The site is across two former garage sites on the estate. The new development will deliver seven affordable homes, including three three-bedroom houses and four four-bedroom houses.
RHP has now given possession of the site to the contractor Buglar with the development due to be completed in 2022/23. As part of the funding for this site, the Council will be providing £361,000 of an affordable housing grant to help fund the delivery of the affordable housing.
The second development on Edgar Road in Heathfield is also on a RHP estate that is currently of redundant amenity space. Part of the scheme will be built with modules constructed off-site.
The new site will deliver nine affordable rented homes with five two-bedroom houses and four three-bedroom houses. The scheme started on site earlier this year and is due for completion in 2022/23.
Cllr Jim Millard, Richmond Council’s Spokesperson for Housing, said:
'It’s great that RHP have now begun work on both sites in the Hampton Wick and Heathfield wards. These new sites will be a hugely welcome addition to the affordable housing stock in the borough and will benefit our residents most in need of housing.
'Making creative use of available space as RHP are doing, with help from the Council is a fantastic way to provide much needed homes. I am particularly pleased that each of these schemes will provide a house built to be fully wheelchair accessible. I look forward to seeing the homes when they are completed.'
