All aboard the new health bus!
22 June 2022
Local residents have been visiting the 'come and have a chat about your health' bus which is due in new locations over the next few weeks.
The bus hosts NHS professionals and pharmacists to answer general questions about health, as well as offering information about free council services to help residents remain healthy and well. Local people who haven’t had a vaccine, or are due one of their doses, can also have a COVID-19 vaccination.
The bus will be parked just off Powder Mill Lane by the playground at Heathfield Recreation Ground, Twickenham, TW2 6EG, on Thursday 30 June from 12 noon to 5pm.
It will also be parked in the car park at Rosslyn Park FC, Priory Lane, Upper Richmond Road, SW15 5JH, on Friday 1 July from 10am 4pm at Rosslyn Park FC.
Local resident, Elvin Baker, visited the bus to have a health check with the pharmacist. He said:
"It is worth taking this opportunity to get checked out. I’ve lost several people close to me in the last few years and suffered a lot of stress and I want to make sure I stay healthy. I find my local pharmacist really helpful, especially when it can be hard to get an appointment with a GP. Today has been good, I know what I need to do to make some improvements to my health."
Mukesh Shah, local pharmacist at Goode Pharmacy in Twickenham, added:
"These health checks are a good way to give people a benchmark around how good their general health is. Quite often there are some really simple ways that they can improve their health which they might not realise. I’m happy to have a chat around all aspects of health, either here on the bus or in the pharmacy."
The mobile pop-up health clinic includes:
- General health advice
- Information about accessing local health and wellbeing services
- Blood pressure checks

- Information on preventing and reducing the risk of a number of diseases, including diabetes, cancer and heart disease
- Information about the COVID-19 vaccine, including the offer of the vaccine if you have not had it yet or need one of your doses
