Active Breathing Course in Richmond

ABC is a free, six-week course devised specifically to help people recover from the impact of COVID and other respiratory illnesses in a fun, creative way.

ABC aims to restore, improve and strengthen lung capacity to build resilience and increase fitness.Breathing exercises and singing are widely accepted as a way to improve breathing, help restore lung function and capacity as well as regain muscle support. Course attendees learn valuable breathing and singing techniques to help manage symptoms as well as receiving support from course tutors and fellow course attendees. The course includes six 35 to 40 minute Zoom sessions for 8 to 10 people, led by expert tutors.ABC will particularly benefit those who have on-going symptoms of breathlessness, fatigue, anxiety and disordered breathing.Since starting in April 2021, Voices of Hope has run 18 courses with over 260 referrals. The course has been backed by SW London GPs from its conception along with hospitals and community providers (social prescribers) who currently account for 80% of referrals.Find out more about the Active Breathing Course and how to get referred.
