Kew Community Centre Christmas coffee morning raising funds for local charity

18 November 2021

The Avenue Club and Kew Community Trust will hold their next coffee morning on Wednesday 1 December, in the main hall at the Kew Community Centre, TW9 2AJ.

Everyone is invited to drop in for a friendly cuppa, from 10am to 12.30pm. Come alone or bring your friends (and well-behaved dogs are welcome too!). With the busy Christmas season coming why not take this chance to take a break from your usually Wednesday routine and come and join us?

Your pay as you feel donations for your cuppa, mince pie or other festive treat will be donated to Kew Neighbourhood Association (KNA). KNA's volunteers ensure Kew Community Centre's local members who are no longer able to travel independently to their activities at the Avenue Club can rely on getting a lift from a friendly, vetted driver so that they can maintain an active social life. They also drive people to medical appointments, accompany clients to shop, and provide one to one companionship, so they are a very worthy cause.

Kew Community Centre hope to donate a generous sum following their first coffee morning after lockdown which raised over £700 for Macmillan Cancer Care in September. The event showed the enthusiasm of the community to socialise together again and get behind a good cause.

The community centre now has over a dozen activities running throughout the week bringing the opportunity to participate in various dance, music, fitness, photography and much more to the residents of Kew and beyond. The Avenue Club - the trust's daytime social club aimed at the over 50s, is also flourishing again with members enjoying both face-to-face and zoom sessions.

To minimise risk from COVID we will be keeping the doors open for ventilation, so bring a jumper. Visitors are encouraged to use lateral flow tests before attending activities and wear a mask when moving around the centre.
