Apply to be a chosen beneficiary of the 2022 charity appeal for the Richmond Voluntary Fund

28 October 2021

Local voluntary and community organisations that provide support for children and young people’s mental health are invited to apply to be the chosen beneficiaries of the 2022 charity appeal for the Richmond Voluntary Fund.

The Richmond Voluntary Fund is a charitable trust (Registered Charity No. 1186870) that was established in 2019 to receive donations from residents to support initiatives that make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people living in Richmond upon Thames.

In 2021 the fund’s appeal was focused on children and young people’s mental health. The fund received generous donations from local residents who donated over £100,000 to support local charities Off The Record, Richmond Borough Mind, Dose of Nature and Marble Hill Playcentres.

For 2022, the Trustees have agreed that children and young people’s mental health will continue to be the focus of the appeal. The Trustees are now inviting expressions of interest from charities already supporting children and young people in the borough to be considered as a potential beneficiary. Out of borough providers will be considered in cases where the organisation or group are partnering with an organisation currently operating in the borough and can provide expertise or specialist support that does not currently exist within the borough.

Potential beneficiaries are invited to attend the ‘Meet the Funder’ event on Wednesday 3 November 2021 from 10am via Microsoft Teams to understand more about the Fund and what it is seeking to support. To register to attend, please email richmondvoluntaryfund@richmond.gov.uk.

Gillian Norton OBE DL, Chair of the Richmond Voluntary Fund, said:

“Mental health remains a major concern for our young people and so the Richmond Voluntary Fund will continue to work with voluntary and community groups that support children and young people’s mental health.

“If you are a local group or organisation and think you might be eligible, we want you to get in touch.”

Robin Brown, Trustee for the Richmond Voluntary Fund, said:

“Many of our young people struggle with their mental health. The past eighteen months through the pandemic period has further put a strain on young people’s mental health.

“Thanks to the generous donations to the Voluntary Fund in 2021, our chosen charities will be able to support the borough’s young people through their vital services. I would encourage those interested to register their expressions of interest.”
