The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge that the Council sets for certain new developments in the Borough.
The CIL allows the Council to raise funds from developers undertaking new building projects in the borough to support and fund new infrastructure that the Council and local communities want.
Further information on the CIL can be found on the GOV.UK website. A useful guide to the CIL can be found on the Planning Portal. The Planning Portal have developed a series of CIL forms that must be completed by the applicant when submitting a planning application.
The Mayor of London introduced a CIL charge on 1 April 2012. See further information on the Mayoral CIL.
CIL is index-linked to the Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) All in Tender Price Index.
For all CIL enquiries please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Borough's CIL Charging Schedule came into effect from 1 November 2014. These charges apply to relevant development approved after this date. The Borough CIL operates in conjunction with the revised Planning Obligations SPD and the Affordable Housing SPD.
All the documents, including the Council’s Instalments Policy, are on the Borough CIL and Planning Obligations page.
