Queens Rise and Nos. 71-89 Queens Road area parking consultation

We are consulting residents in Queens Rise and the adjacent section of Queens Road (between Queens Rise and Marchmont Road) with a view to adding this area to The Alberts Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), Zone G.

This review was commissioned in response to a petition from Queens Rise residents, the majority of whom request a CPZ due to parking by non-residents making it hard finding a parking space close to their home.

The aim of a CPZ is to prioritise parking for residents and businesses by deterring commuter and other long-stay parking by non-residents, who are currently able to park for free and without time limit. It can help tackle problems with obstructed driveways/sightlines, congestion and make more space available for residents’ vehicles and those of their visitors.


If the consultation identifies support to introduce parking controls in these roads, we will consider developing proposals in the form of an extension of the nearby existing Zone G, which currently operates 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The consultation opens on Friday 23 July and closes on Friday 17 September 2021.

What happens next

We would like to demonstrate that any measures have the support of the local community, so a good response is important. Whilst we would like to apply the most supported options among responding households, the final decision will not be based on residents’ views alone.

All feedback will be considered along with relevant traffic management and other highway factors, prior to a decision being made on the way forward.
