Mini Marathon runners excel

Richmond upon Thames team achieved 1st place for the second year running in the Virgin London Mini Marathon on Sunday 17 April.

The Borough’s team of 47 runners aged 11 to 17 years, assembled by Richmond Council’s Sports Development Team, performed strongly in every race. The race took place over the last three miles of the main marathon course.

Competing against teams from 32 London boroughs and the City of London, this was an outstanding performance from our young athletes.

Individual top 10 places were achieved by the following participants:

  • Girls U13 Hannah Novakovic - 7th
  • Girls U17 Alice Hewitt - 7th
  • Boys U13 Aaron Farr - 3rd, Miles Watson - 4th, Jamie Finnigan - 10th

The Richmond upon Thames teams all finished in the top 10.

The team was selected at a trial held in Richmond Park at the end of January.
