When to wear a face mask

In light of recent government recommendations, we would like to encourage all customers to wear face masks when entering the building and when moving through circulation areas within the sites (corridors, changing rooms and the café).

Face masks or PPE should not to be worn whilst exercising or participating in activities booked.

NHS Test and Trace

From Thursday 24 September 2020, all of our Sports and Fitness Centres will be operating NHS Test and Trace, as per Government legislation. When visiting our centres, we encourage you to scan the NHS QR code and you will be asked to provide your name and contact details so you can be notified if you have been exposed to the virus

Waiting areas and queuing

Please note that as it gets colder during the autumn and winter months, we are unable to provide indoor waiting areas for customers. Please arrive for your booked session time and come prepared for waiting outdoors in poor weather.

At the swimming pool

What you should do

  • Arrive 'swim ready' to minimise use of changing rooms
  • Bring water with you. Water fountains will not be in use. Water bottles sold at reception
  • Sanitise your hands using our sanitiser station as you enter the building and continue to wash your hands wherever possible
  • Stick to lane direction signage and the lane ability you have booked
  • Follow our guidance on social distancing, direction of travel and other risk control measures
  • Take into consideration that you have not swam for over 3 months. Go steady and pace yourself. Ensure you have eaten before your swim
  • Leave valuable personal items at home. Lockers will not be available to use
  • Please shower at home. Only poolside showers will be available for a quick post swim shower. All other showers will not be available to use
  • Bring any equipment/aids with you (floats, arm bands, kick boards etc.)

What you shouldn't do 

  • Do NOT come to the facility if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (temperature, cough, difficulty breathing, or anosmia for example, loss of taste or smell)
  • Do NOT make physical contact with other participants
  • Do NOT use the changing rooms unless absolutely necessary, i.e. to use the toilets, disabled or baby changing facilities and to quickly change into clothing after your swim. Maintain a social distance and avoid socialising
  • Do NOT overtake whilst swimming. Before pushing off at each turn, check to see if anyone faster is approaching
  • Do NOT arrive at the centre more than 10 minutes before your allocated time slot
  • Do NOT wear PPE in the swimming pool

Other information

  • Sessions are 1 hour long, we recommend 45 minutes to swim and 15 minutes changing time. Please vacate the building before the hour is finished to allow the next session to start
  • Hairdryers and spin dryers will NOT be available to use
  • Please note that under 16-year olds can only be booked by telephone and not using the LBRUT Sports APP
  • The centre can NOT lend out equipment and limited Zoggs retail will be available to purchase
  • To transfer or cancel an existing booking, 24 hours' notice must be given by calling us on 020 3772 2999. Direct Debit and Annual Members are also now able to cancel their booking online or via the App, up to 3 hours before the session starts

At the hydrotherapy pool

What you should do

  • Arrive swim ready to minimise use of changing rooms
  • Wear a face covering when entering and exiting in the hydro pool. Face coverings are not permitted in the water
  • Sanitise your hands using our sanitiser station as you enter the hydro pool and continue to wash your hands wherever possible
  • Follow our guidance on social distancing
  • Leave valuable personal items at home
  • Bring any equipment with you
  • Bring drinking water with you, water fountains maybe limited. Water bottles sold at reception
  • Please shower at home where possible to limit the time spent in the facility
  • Ensure walking aids/frames are cleaned before and after use
  • Ensure your indemnity form is up to date before making a booking
  • Ensure you have completed a new indemnity form if your medical history has changed in the last six months

What you shouldn't do

  • Do NOT come to the facility if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (high temperature, cough, difficulty breathing or loss of taste/smell)
  • Do NOT come to the facility if you are feeling unwell, bookings can be transferred or refunded with 24 hours notice
  • Do NOT make physical contact with other participants and avoid socialising inside the facility
  • Do NOT arrive at the hydro pool more than 10 minutes before your allocated time slot
  • Do NOT wear PPE in the hydro pool itself

Other information

  • Hydro sessions are 30 minutes long with a reduced capacity. Cleaning is scheduled in between sessions
  • Please note hydro bookings cannot be made online or via the LBRUT Sports App. You will need to call us on 020 3772 2999 to make a booking
  • Cancellations can only be made by giving 24 hours notice
  • Hairdryers will not be available to use
  • Equipment will be limited, we recommend purchasing your own woggle and ankle weight from reception

At the gym

What you should do

  • Have completed a Pre-Exercise Questionnaire and attended an induction session prior to booking a gym session. Please email leisure@richmond.gov.uk if you would like to book an induction

  • Arrive ready to use the gym
  • Ensure all equipment is wiped down and cleaned after every use
  • Sanitise your hands using our sanitiser station as you enter the building and continue to wash your hands wherever possible
  • There is NO one way system in the gym so when you need to move around please respect social distancing and communicate direction of travel with others
  • Follow our guidance on social distancing and direction of travel
  • Return all dumbbells and plates to the appropriate racks after use
  • Leave valuable personal items at home. Only bring what you need to the centre
  • Respect other gym users and keep all equipment use to a maximum of 15 minutes or three sets to allow fair and constant rotation of limited machines available
  • Only use the changing areas if necessary, i.e. the toilets and disabled facilities. Showers and lockers will not be in use
  • Dispose of all litter/tissues in the bins provided
  • Bring water with you. Water fountains will not be in use. Water bottles are sold at reception
  • After your session has finished please leave the building as directed and avoid socialising
  • Wear suitable clean sports clothing and clean indoor training shoes with socks

What you shouldn't do

  • Do NOT come to the facility if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (temperature, cough, difficulty breathing, or anosmia; for example, loss of taste or smell)
  • Do NOT use any equipment that is out of use. Machines have been distanced apart for your safety
  • Do NOT use the gym if you are currently injured or still recovering from a pre-existing injury
  • Do NOT bring bags or coats into the gym. They are a trip hazard which can cause harm/injury
  • Do NOT arrive at the centre more than 10 minutes before your allocated time slot
  • Do NOT use mobile phones in the gym. If you need to make/receive a call please do so outside the building

Other information

  • Admission will NOT be allowed if more than 5 minutes late.
  • To transfer or cancel an existing booking, 24 hours' notice must be given by calling us on 020 3772 2999. Direct Debit and Annual Members are also now able to cancel their booking online or via the App, up to 3 hours before the session starts

At the studio

What you should do 

  • Check availability and pre-book your fitness classes
  • Only use the changing areas if necessary, for example, the toilets. Showers and lockers will not be in use
  • Arrive dressed ready to use the studio
  • Bring your own Yoga/Pilates mat. Limited stock available to purchase at reception
  • Sanitise your hands using our sanitiser station as you enter the building and continue to wash your hands wherever possible
  • Wear suitable clean sports clothing and clean indoor training shoes with socks
  • Follow our guidance on social distancing and direction of travel
  • Bring water with you, water fountains will not be in use. Water bottles are sold at reception
  • Leave valuable personal items at home. Only bring what you need to the centre
  • Dispose of all litter/tissues in the bins provided
  • Queue outside the studio 2m apart until instructed to enter
  • After the class please leave the Studio as instructed and avoid socialising

What you shouldn't do

  • Do NOT come to the facility if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (temperature, cough, difficulty breathing, or anosmia; for example, loss of taste or smell)
  • Do NOT arrive at the centre more than 10 minutes before your allocated time slot
  • Do NOT attend a class if you have a current injury

Other information

  • Admission will NOT be allowed if more than 5 minutes late.

At sports centre pitches

What you should do

  • Only come to centre if you have pre-booked slot
  • Leave valuable personal items at home. Only bring what you need to the centre
  • Bring water with you, water fountains will be closed off from public use. Water bottles are sold at reception
  • Wash your hands or sanitise your hands before entering the facilities
  • Please arrive ready for your sport, wearing appropriate clothing for the activity. There will be no changing/shower facilities available
  • Follow the operator’s guidance on social distancing and direction of travel and any other risk control measures in place
  • Wait outside of the pitch until you are instructed to enter
  • Keep 2 meters distance from other customers/bookings where possible
  • Try to limit physical contact within own activity where possible
  • Please ensure all equipment is wiped down and cleaned after every use, i.e. footballs, cones etc.
  • Please dispose of all litter/tissues in the bins provided
  • After your session has finished please leave the facility promptly as directed and avoid socialising

What you shouldn't do

  • Do not come to the facility if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (temperature, cough, difficulty breathing, or anosmia e.g. loss of taste or smell)
  • Do not arrive at the centre more than 5 minutes before your allocated booking time slot
  • Do not attempt to use any equipment that is not included in your booked activity or that may be marked as “out of use”
  • Do not congregate around the site

Other information

Every booking must have completed and returned a booking form, a COVID-19 risk assessment, have a designated Track and Trace Officer for the booking and have signed and agreed to the Centre’s Terms and Conditions.
