The Richmond Health Walks are free, organised group walks for people who are currently not very active but would like to increase their physical activity.

Note: The Ramblers Wellbeing Walks team is aware that there is an issue when you search for a walk from a location that it returns information on the walk that is closest to you (in distance) and not the most recent walk. They are working on this and will keep groups updated as and when this is resolved.

Guidance for walking during COVID-19

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms you must not attend the group walk.

Clothing and what to take

Get ready for the walk:

  • Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions
  • Bring food and plenty of water
  • Bring your own alcohol based hand sanitiser, face covering and basic first aid kit

Getting to the walk

Plan how you will get to the walk - where possible, minimising the use of car sharing and public transport.

On the walk

Follow the government guidelines on physical distancing. Listen to the walk leader's briefing so you know what to do.

Register your attendance

Provide the walk leader with your contact details, so name and telephone number, to support NHS contact tracing. The register will be held for 21 days and then destroyed.

After the walk   

If you develop symptoms after the walk, apply for a COVID-19 test and support NHS contact tracing if requested. If NHS contact tracers ask for the details of anyone on the walk, please put them in touch with Ramblers on 020 3961 3180.

Who they are for

The walks are for people of all ages who want to get more active.

What to expect

These gentle walks take place in groups and provide a safe and social atmosphere.

Each walk lasts between 45 and 70 minutes and will be supervised by at least two walk leaders. You will be encouraged to go at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Shorter and slower walks are also available for beginners and those with limiting health conditions.

How to join in

Simply come along to the starting point 10 minutes before the stated start time. The first time you attend you will be asked to complete a brief health questionnaire.

There are walks every day of the week throughout the year except Saturdays and public holidays.
