NHS Health Checks

Free NHS Health Checks are available to people aged between 40 and 74 years. They can help assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes.

You are entitled to one free Health Check every five years.

Why they are important

Even though you may be feeling great, if you're over 40 you could be at risk of:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Kidney disease
  • Diabetes
  • Dementia

Eligibility

To qualify for a free Health Check, you must:

  • Be aged 40 to 74
  • Be a Richmond upon Thames resident or be registered with a GP within the borough.
  • Have not been previously diagnosed with diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease or stroke
  • Have not had an NHS Health Check in the last 5 years

How to get a Health Check

Your GP may send you an invitation. You can contact them to check when yours is due.
