Councillors' allowances

The Council publishes an annual list of allowances paid to Members under the scheme over the preceding Municipal Year.

About allowances

All Members receive a basic allowance and some Members also receive a Special Responsibility Allowance (SRA). The details of the Members' Allowance Scheme are agreed each year at Annual Council. Current allowances can be found in Part 6 of the Council's Constitution.

Arrangements for the payment of members allowances are made under the Local Authorities (Members Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003. In making any arrangements for members allowances, councils have a duty to have regard to the recommendations made in relation to them by an Independent Remuneration Panel.
