Local Council elections 2026

London Borough of Richmond elections will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026. All 54 seats of the Council will be up for election across all 18 local government wards.

Notice of election

The notice of election was published on Monday 30 March 2026. This marked the official start of the Richmond local elections timetable.

Important election dates

Key dates for voters:

  • Apply to vote by proxy - the deadline to apply to vote by proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026
  • Apply for a Voter Authority Certificate - the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026
  • Apply to vote by post - the deadline to apply to vote by post was 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026
  • Register to vote - the deadline to register to vote at the elections was midnight on Monday 20 April 2026
  • Poll cards - official poll cards were dispatched in late March. Details of your designated polling station are printed on your poll card

Postal vote packs

Postal vote packs were sent first class via Royal Mail.

  • If your postal vote was already in place or your application was approved by 1 April, your pack was dispatched on 20 April
  • If your application was approved between 2 and 21 April, your pack was dispatched on 24 April
