Heathrow Airport is restricted to 5,800 night-time take-offs and landings a year. There is also a night quota limit, which caps the amount of noise the airport can make at night.

Airports Commision report

The Airports Commission were asked to write a report, including recommendations on how the UK can maintain its position as Europe’s most important aviation hub.

The report recommends that the Airport should only be expanded if a comprehensive package of measures are introduced, which includes a ban on night flights.
