Learn how to paddle safely with Hampton Canoe Club's Paddle Safer Award

Bought a boat and want to gain knowledge and awareness of how to paddle safely on the Thames? Hampton Canoe Club have courses to help you!

A paddling safety award course is offered to non-members on 1 and 29 July.

If you’re a beginner paddler and want to learn more about how to paddle on open water safely, the Paddle Safer Award is for you. It’ll help you develop a better understanding of how to be safe when taking to the water.

During this nationally-recognised award, your instructor will work with you to develop your knowledge on equipment and environmental factors, as well as practical rescues to give you confidence on the water.

Part of this two to three hour course will take place on land where they will look at your equipment and explain things to be aware of on the river. You will then get wet practicing how to rescue and be rescued if your craft were to capsize.
