Richmond SACRE mourns the passing of Lesley Prior

The Richmond Standing Advisory Committee on Religious Education (SACRE) has been informed of the sad news of the passing of Lesley Prior. 

Lesley served as a consultant from 2012 to 2023.

The Chair of the SACRE, Councillor Penny Frost, has paid tribute to Lesley: “The death of Lesley Prior is a loss to the whole of the RE and multi-faith community both within our borough and nationally; through our borough SACRE and Lesley’s extensive national work with NASACRE."

"We have lost a faithful colleague and a supportive friend whose humour and insight has guided us for many years on our SACRE committee. With Lesley’s guidance, we have built and maintained strong multi-faith links as we have shaped our Agreed Syllabus for our local family of schools, and we have developed our annual FaithDirect days for our secondary schools.

"It is a tribute to Lesley that our SACRE has continued strongly under new guidance, and we are developing new directions working more closely with our Kingston SACRE on a new RE Quality Mark for primary schools across the two boroughs. Our thoughts are with Lesley’s family and friends.’’
