Mayor unveils twinned town information board in Kneller Gardens

Community news on behalf of Richmond in Europe Association | 22 April 2025

On Saturday 19 April 2025, the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Richard Pyne, and the Mayoress unveiled a new information board about our twinned towns of Fontainebleau and Konstanz.

At the unveiling event, Richmond in Europe Association Chairman, Alan Mockford, organised fabulous music from the Whitton Community Big Band. Cllr Piers Allen, Cllr Lesley Pollesche, and Cllr John Coombs joined the enthusiastic crowd to celebrate our borough's connection with Konstanz in Germany and Fontainebleau in France.

The fourth of five new information boards, now standing in Kneller Gardens, commemorates the upcoming reaffirmation of our European partnerships taking place from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 June 2025. These boards feature information about Richmond’s twinned towns, offering a deeper understanding of our shared heritage and the importance of maintaining these international connections.

As we mark 65 years of our international partnerships, there over 50 events and activities happening around the borough. The main celebration will take place over the Twinning Reaffirmation Weekend from 6 to 8 June, with some activities kicking off from this month, and more events continuing throughout the summer.
