Join our Transport Strategy 2040 forum and help shape the future of local travel

24 April 2025

Residents, workers, and students across Richmond upon Thames are invited to attend a public forum next month to have their say on the borough’s long-term transport plans.

The Transport Strategy 2040 sets out our vision for a more sustainable, inclusive and accessible transport network over the next 15 years. The forum, which will take place at York House, Twickenham on Thursday 8 May, will give attendees the opportunity to hear about the strategy’s aims and contribute their ideas in a series of roundtable discussions.

So far, more than 1,550 people have taken part in the consultation by contributing to an interactive map and completing a public survey. We are encouraging even more residents to get involved before the consultation closes at the end of May.

Cllr Alexander Ehmann, Chair of the Transport and Air Quality Services Committee, said:

“Richmond Council has always believed that we need to plan for the long-term to make this borough more connected and ultimately more prosperous.

“Your ideas and priorities really can help us to shape the borough’s future as a more accessible, clean and connected place."

The strategy focuses on several key priorities, including:

  • Improving connectivity and accessibility
  • Increasing public transport reliability
  • Supporting walking and cycling
  • Reducing emissions and improving air quality

Public Forum

The event will begin with a presentation outlining the Transport Strategy 2040, followed by group discussions with councillors and members of the project team.

Online consultation

For those unable to attend the forum, we are continuing to gather feedback online.

You can find more information about the current status of transport in the borough by visiting the dedicated transport strategy website. Here, like hundreds of other residents, you can take our survey and share your concerns on our interactive map.
