The Full of Life Fair returns this autumn

13 August 2024

Our annual Full of Life Fair for older residents and carers is back at Twickenham Stadium on Friday 27 September from 10am to 4pm, to celebrate active, healthy lifestyles and provide direct access to local services and activities in Richmond upon Thames.

The all-day, free event will showcase more than 65 local stallholders representing health, care and public services, community and voluntary organisations, national charities and local businesses, as well as a full schedule of fun activity taster sessions and workshops to support physical and mental health, and an all-day café with free refreshments.

Cllr Piers Allen, Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health and Chair of the Richmond Health and Wellbeing Board, said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming our residents back to the stadium for another year of celebrations, fun activities and up-to-date, useful information and advice about the vast resources in Richmond upon Thames that exist to support them.

“Our older residents and carers make immeasurable contributions to our borough, and this is our opportunity to provide them with everything they need locally to help them connect with their community and live more active, healthy, happy and independent lives.

“The fair is additionally a great opportunity to meet other like-minded people, build local support networks and make new friends. It’s important to us that any residents who are physically or emotionally isolated get the opportunity to fully benefit from what Full of Life has to offer. If you have a friend, neighbour or carer who would benefit from this event, please do share this information with them and encourage them to come along.”

Visitors will have the chance to:

  • Try out community activities like table tennis, yoga, gentle exercise and strengthening routines, dance demos and informative workshops
  • Access one-to-one support for how to easily use everyday technology to live more independently and learn about how to avoid cyber scams
  • Receive healthy living and social care advice from local professionals, as well as clinical services like blood pressure checks and seasonal immunisations
  • Learn how to get involved in local community and activity groups

There is a limited first-come, first-served free lunch which visitors must pre-register for.

Residents and carers unable to attend the main fair - or looking to benefit from further activities - can also get involved with a programme of free community events throughout the entire month of October. We are supporting local groups and organisations to host their own activities across the borough.

Details about these events, including how to RSVP, will be shared on our website and channels from mid-September and promoted at the main fair.

Registration to attend is now open.
