Services to help you deal with grief

Community news on behalf of Kew Neighbourhood Association | 19 August 2025

Hear from local charity Kew Neighbourhood Association about easing the quiet weight of grief and finding connection when you need it most.

Grief is something we all face in life, yet it is often a private, unspoken journey. Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. It may ebb and flow, some days are gentler, others unexpectedly raw. Here are a few suggestions that might support you or someone you know:

  1. Allow your feelings: There is no right way to grieve. Some people cry, some feel numb, others feel angry or lost. All of it is valid
  2. Take your time: Grief is not something to get over. It changes with us, and it’s okay to move at your own pace
  3. Connect with others: Sharing your story, even briefly, can help lift the sense of isolation. Whether it’s a neighbour, a friend, or a support volunteer — connection can be healing
  4. Be kind to yourself: Eat regularly, rest when you can, and speak gently to yourself. Grief can be tiring; you deserve care
  5. Seek support if you need it: You don’t have to do this alone. There are people and services that understand and are here to help
