Tree-mendous recycling to support Shooting Star Children’s Hospices

Community news on behalf of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices | 11 December 2024

While we offer free Christmas tree collections from Monday 6 to Friday 17 January 2025, you may consider letting Shooting Star Children’s Hospices collect your Christmas tree for a minimum suggested donation.

This January, let Shooting Star Children’s Hospices take the hassle out of recycling your tree — no needles in your car or trips to the tip. They will collect your real trees and dispose of them sustainably with the help of their partners, Merrist Wood College and The Tree Agency.

By chipping your tree, its carbon footprint is reduced by up to 80%. It’s a simple way to make the festive season brighter for those in need while also helping the planet. 90% of all funds raised will go directly to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, with the remaining 10% distributed to other local charities.

Collection dates: Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 January 2025

Register your tree by 8 January 2025.

If you would like to get involved with the collection, volunteer your time or help in any way please contact the organisers on christmastrees@shootingstar.org.uk.
