Won’t pass her by: Join us in ending sexual violence
4 February 2025
Sexual Abuse & Violence Awareness Week, running from 3 to 9 February, is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to supporting survivors, raising awareness, and taking action to prevent abuse. We want you to join us.
We’re working with our partners to ensure local residents and visitors have access to vital support, safety initiatives, and training opportunities. Here's an overview of our initiatives and events.
White Ribbon stall at RFU matches
From Saturday 8 February alongside the Met’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) local officers, we will host a White Ribbon stall at every RFU match in Twickenham until the Women’s Rugby World Cup final this summer. Supported by local councillors, we will offer information, personal safety resources, and support to both local residents and visitors.
We encourage all attendees to stop by, learn more, and help us tackle gender-based violence.
Safe Haven pilot in Barnes
We’ve launched an exciting new Safe Haven Pilot in Barnes, a community-led initiative offering immediate support for those feeling unsafe. Local businesses displaying a Safe Haven window sticker are providing a welcoming space for individuals who need assistance – whether that’s contacting someone after losing a phone, or finding safety while police are called if they feel at risk.
Current businesses taking part in Barnes include:
- The Bridge Pub
- Oso Café
- The Sun Inn
- Chesterton’s Estate Agents
- Barnes Pharmacy
If you’re a business in the area and want to join the initiative, we welcome your involvement to help create a safer community.
Become an Active Bystander – Free training
Want to build confidence in safely challenging inappropriate or harmful behaviour?
We are offering free online Active Bystander training sessions throughout 2025. This training empowers individuals to take action and support others in their community.
The next session:
- Date: Wednesday 26 February
- Time: 7 to 8.30pm
- Location: Microsoft Teams
We can also organise sessions for local organisations looking to train their teams.
How to help someone in need
