Local psychologist brings ecstatic dance to Twickenham
Community news on behalf of ETNA Community Centre | 26 February 2026
Local psychologist Dr Genevieve von Lob is teaming up with DJ Josh Silver to bring ecstatic dance to Twickenham, with an inaugural evening of heart-opening movement, music and connection at ETNA Community Centre on Friday 13 March.
Ecstatic dance is a warm and welcoming practice, which helps us reconnect with the joy of moving in whatever way feels most natural to us – with no experience necessary. As the curated music journey progresses through a succession of atmospheres, tempos and rhythms, participants are invited to dance in whatever way feels good to them.
Dr Genevieve has long been seeking ways to build community in the borough and sees ecstatic dance as a wonderful way to bring people together.
“The great thing about ecstatic dance is that there’s absolutely no pressure to perform, get it right, or move in any particular way,” says Dr Genevieve.
A rising star in the UK’s fast-growing ecstatic dance scene, Josh is the co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Somerset and has played at several events across the UK.
A double graduate of the Dance the Medicine school, Josh is also trained in the Internal Family Systems school of psychotherapy, allowing him to blend conscious movement with psychological insight to welcome all parts of ourselves into the dance.
Dr Genevieve and DJ Josh Silver will be welcoming participants from 6.30pm before offering a gentle introduction to ecstatic dance and an option to drink a cup of cacao. The dance will start at 7.15pm and last an hour and 45 minutes. There will be time to reflect and share at the end before gently transitioning into the weekend.
