Community news on behalf of Mind | 24 January 2025

Resident Kim Stokes is saying thank you to everyone who generously supported her 15-hour live stream event in aid of mental health charity, Mind.

The donations enabled Mind to continue supporting people with mental health problems, making sure they get the support and respect they deserve. Find out more about ways to support Mind

Last month, Kim hosted an online event #15forKindness, where over 20 speakers shared insights and practical sessions on topics including breathwork, mindfulness, overcoming motherhood guilt, EFT (tapping), and maintaining healthy digital habits. Attendees were invited to make a donation to Mind.

The initiative also highlighted a startling statistic: 1 in 15 people will attempt suicide in their lifetime, with a focus on the rising suicide rates among women aged 45 to 54.

Kim explained: “This event was about more than raising funds - it was about reminding us and educating us of the number of ways that we can extend ourselves kindness. Mental health struggles can feel incredibly isolating, small acts of self-kindness – I like to call them ‘micro moments’ – can make such a big difference.”

Looking ahead, Kim plans to make #15forKindness an annual tradition, inspiring even more people to participate in acts of kindness and support mental health causes.
