Funding available to protect communities and properties from flooding
22 July 2024
Community BlueScapes has launched a £30,000 grant programme, offering up to £1000 per person or £5000 per organisation in the Beverley Brook catchment area to help adapt to climate change.
The funding could be used to help people prepare for or recover from flooding and extreme weather, improve natural spaces in the local area, or help local communities connect with nature.
Interested parties can apply for a grant of up to £1000 per person or group without an organisation bank account, and up to £5000 per group with an organisation bank account.
Ideas for projects include:
- Installing a rain garden - rain gardens can survive long, dry summers and short periods of heavy rain or flooding
- Setting up a community climate event or trail - set up a competition or art trail to make your community aware of flooding and the impact of a flood on the neighbourhood
- Planting trees - trees are excellent at reducing the impact of a flash flood as they slow the flow of rainwater and absorb it. Join forces with neighbours, colleagues or friends to plant trees in your front garden, business site or local green space
The deadline for applications is Monday 2 September 2024.
