Richmond Council Chief Executive to step down

18 July 2024

It has been announced that Mike Jackson will be stepping down as Chief Executive in the autumn.

Mike has been in the role since October 2022 and will step down due to personal, family reasons.

Councillor Gareth Roberts, Leader of Richmond Council, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Mike over the past few years. Mike has bought steady and experienced leadership to the Council. The world is a fast-changing place; our residents are experiencing greater challenges and uncertainties than ever before, as is the Council.

"With Mike at the helm, we have made real progress in developing new and innovative ways for Richmond to tackle some of the intrinsic challenges our society faces, and for how we approach our local priorities, particularly the vision for the future of Richmond Town Centre and building resilience in the face of the climate emergency. I want to thank Mike for all he has done and the legacy he will leave, and wish him all the best.”

Mike Jackson said: “Richmond upon Thames is a special place with a spectacular history and an exciting future. What has stood out to me particularly about Richmond is the dedication of the people who live and work here to work in partnership towards a better, fairer future. It’s a real strength and rewarding to be a part of it.

“The council teams serving both Richmond and Wandsworth are brilliant – and I’m confident that both Councils will continue to go from strength to strength and deliver exceptional services to residents.”

Arrangements for Mike’s replacement will be made in due course.
