Richmond Council has raised the Flag of St George above the Civic Centre today, ahead of England’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final in Basel this weekend.
The flag was raised by Council Leader Gareth Roberts to show the borough’s support for Mortlake's Lauren James, Sarina Wiegman and the Lionesses as they prepare for Sunday’s match.
Councillor Roberts said:
"The Lionesses continue to inspire with their outstanding performances and team spirit. As they head into a second consecutive Euros final, we are proud to fly the flag in support of everything they represent – talent, resilience and unity.
"I know the whole borough will be cheering the Lionesses on as they roar their way to, what we all hope will be, a victory against Spain and to see them lifting the UEFA Women's Euro Trophy for the second time."
