Safe Havens launch in Barnes

3 July 2025

The Safe Haven scheme is now being piloted in Barnes, as part of our commitment to ensuring Richmond is a safe borough for all.

The scheme, developed by the Safer Business Network and being implemented locally by our Community Safety Team, provides places of temporary safety and support for anyone who needs it.

The following venues have all been registered and trained as Safe Havens:

  • The Bridge Pub
  • Alma CafĂ©
  • Castlenau Library
  • Chesterton’s Estate Agents
  • Medivet Barnes
  • Olympic Studios
  • OSO Arts Centre
  • The Sun Inn

These business are available to offer support to anyone feeling intimidated, harassed, unwell or just in need of some help. Support offered can include use of a phone or phone charging facilities, arranging safe transportation, and directing individuals to appropriate services, among other measures.

Premises such as shops, cafes, pubs, libraries and other businesses can register to become a recognised Safe Haven site and begin offering this support to their local community.
