Become a London Heartstarter in Kew
Community news on behalf of Rotary Club of Kew Gardens | 30 June 2026
The London Heart Starters campaign is bringing more life-saving defibrillators to the city, in the areas where they are needed most. Join Rotary Club of Kew Gardens and London Ambulance Service on 6 August to learn how to save a life.
Despite the progress they have made, research by the Rotary Club of Kew Gardens found that 19 (of 35) defibrillators in Kew are not registered with The Circuit register for emergency services. It's also been established that the vast majority of defibrillators are not available 24/7, as they are located within premises with limited opening hours.
Together, we can change this. In a huge boon for the local area, Kew Community Trust has recently installed a new, publicly available, defibrillator on the wall of St Luke's Church.
After hugely popular days in April and May, where over 250 local residents took time out to learn a new skill to help their fellow neighbour, the London Ambulance Service has agreed to run another day of training for Kew.
On 6 August, they'll be on hand to teach you how to do CPR and use a defibrillator to help someone. Training will be provided in short, 15-minute bursts, where you will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and ask questions.
