Can you help shape Teddington's exciting new community centre?
Community news on behalf of Elleray Community Association | 6 March 2024
Ahead of building work beginning on the new Elleray Centre in the heart of Teddington, the Elleray Community Association are looking to strengthen their board of volunteer trustees.
Within a few weeks, building work will start on the new Elleray Centre in the heart of Teddington. By May 2025, it is hoped to have a brand new, purpose-built centre containing a large hall that can be divided into separate sound-proofed spaces, several other rooms, a café area, an attractive garden and a terrace with seating.
While the Council will own the building, Elleray Community Association (ECA) are being entrusted with running and managing it for the benefit of the community at large: a centre run by the community and for the community.
To help do this, the ECA would like to strengthen their board of volunteer trustees. They are particularly interested to hear from people with experience and expertise in the following areas: marketing, social media, fundraising, website design, finance and treasury.
It is expected that all trustees attend the management meetings every other month, usually in the late afternoon on a Tuesday, and take part in a sub-committee on a specific project. The ECA anticipate a time commitment of approximately 10 to 12 hours per month.
The vision is to make the new centre a vibrant and lively community asset that really does have something to offer to just about everyone living in and around Teddington - a thriving venue that will provide:
- A wider range of activities and a social hub for existing members
- Facilities for a range of classes and activities including arts and crafts, health, fitness and wellbeing, hobbies and pursuits, training, self improvement and advancement
- Space that can be used for events such as children's parties, exhibitions, etc
If you would like to know more about becoming a trustee, contact Chairman Joan Barnett for an informal discussion at chr@ellerayhall.org or 020 8977 0549.
