Otakar Kraus Music Trust to take part in Big Give Arts Impact campaign

Local Richmond charity, The Otakar Kraus Music Trust, is taking part in the Big Give Arts Impact campaign from Tuesday 19 to Tuesday 26 March 2024, with the aim to raise £20,000.

The funds will be used for Otakar Kraus Music School. The charity teaches 76 children and young people with disabilities to play a musical instrument or sing and to perform in public concerts.

Students flourish, making friends, gaining confidence, and developing life skills, such as improved communication and socialisation, with some also taking and passing music exams. The charity helps them become part of the local community and realise their potential.

OK Musical School was set up in 2012 to make music learning truly inclusive and provide the children and young people with musical teaching, tailored to their needs. The students are not typically able to access mainstream musical activities. The lessons are delivered by qualified music therapists, specialising in a wide range of teaching approaches.

Demand to join the OK Music School is constant – there is a current waiting list of 20 children and young people. Help more young people with disabilities thrive through music by donating.

Valerie Roy, Fundraising Manager at The Otakar Kraus Music Trust said:

“This year we’re looking to raise a total of £20,000. In order to access all of the £10,000 we have in the matching pot, we need to raise £10,000 in online donations. We hope everyone will give generously this year to help us reach our target and enable us to carry on the work we all feel so passionately about!”

You can make a donation online from midday on Tuesday 19 March 2024. The campaign will close on Tuesday 26 March 2024 at midday.
