Our latest improvements at Ham Riverside Playing Pitches

31 May 2024

Our Parks and Sports Development teams have partnered with Richmond Baseball Club to bring Ham Riverside Playing Pitches up to baseball league standards.

For 20 years, this site has been serving the community and now we are working to protect, improve and enhance its facilities. Baseball facilities are few and far between in London, and we are pleased to work together to increase provision within the borough.

Cllr Alan Juriansz, the Vice Chair of our Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sports Committee, said, “This is a great example of our council working with local clubs to provide the best facilities for the widest range of sports in the borough. Collaboration like this is exactly what we are trying to promote, to ensure that publicly accessible pitches of the highest standard can be provided locally. It is also important for our leisure strategy to have more residents, more active participating in sports they enjoy. I hope it encourages more local residents to take up the sport."

Richmond Baseball Club officials commented, “It has been a delight to work with the Parks/Sports Development teams to bring this project to fruition and seeing the enthusiasm they have for sports in the borough. We look forward to continuing growing our club and baseball in the borough!”
