Donate to keep London’s children safe this Christmas

Community news on behalf of Metropolitan Police | 19 November 2024

This year, the Met Police are supporting the Childhood Trust as their Christmas Tree Appeal charity partner. Donate to help ensure London’s most vulnerable children are kept safe this Christmas.

Your donation will enable The Childhood Trust’s work to alleviate the impact of child poverty across the capital, focusing on improving children’s safety and wellbeing at home and in the community.

Despite London being ranked the fifth wealthiest city in the world, one in three children in London live below the poverty line. Children living in poverty are some of the most vulnerable in our society. As well as being unable to afford things needed to give them the best start in life, these children are often dealing with a multitude of challenges.

Increased pressures on poorer families means their children are at greater risk of harm, abuse and neglect; widespread evidence also highlights the strong relationship between young people living in poverty and in areas of high deprivation and the higher likelihood of being involved in serious youth violence.

Through their London-wide network, The Childhood Trust will deliver vital projects in every London borough this Christmas, including providing hot meals and warm clothes, accommodation support and advice for families, safe spaces to play, learn and socialise, safer home environments and targeted interventions to tackle issues including the impact of homelessness, temporary accommodation or being vulnerable to abuse, gangs and crime.
