Money Advice Roadshow comes to Whitton Community Centre
10 October 2024
Local residents can come along on Friday 25 October to get free advice from experts on making their money go further.
This is the first Richmond upon Thames Money Advice Roadshow. It will take place between 11am and 2pm on Friday 25 October at Whitton Community Centre, Percy Road, TW2 6JL.
Along with Citizens Advice Richmond and other specialist local organisations we will be on hand to help people with:
- Getting discounts on water and mobile phone bills
- Accessing money to help with energy bills
- Checking they are receiving all the government benefits they are eligible for
- Tips to save on heating bills and keeping their home warm
- General financial advice
We will be taking feedback from attendees on the day, which will help shape future events, and we will take the roadshow throughout the rest of Richmond upon Thames. We have dedicated £4.5 million to support residents, voluntary sector organisations, and community groups through the cost-of-living crisis. We have also recently announced that we will be supporting some pensioners who will lose their winter fuel payment under the Government’s new rules.
Cllr Gareth Roberts, Leader of Richmond Council, said: “We know just how difficult the last couple of years have been, with all residents feeling the impact of increased costs. That’s why we remain focused on providing vital council support to our residents facing financial hardship due to the cost-of-living crisis.
“Our goal is to ensure that every resident can access the support available and claim every penny they are entitled to. We hope residents will take the opportunity to come along to Whitton Community Centre and find out more about the support on offer locally.”
Visit the Richmond Cost of Living Hub for the latest information on what is available nationally and locally as well as details of the borough’s network of Community Spaces and free support calculator.
You can also sign up to receive cost of living support updates straight to your inbox.
Any resident of Richmond upon Thames is welcome to attend the roadshow. Entitlement to support and funds may be subject to eligibility criteria.
