Richmond Council unveils new hub for community input and updates on climate strategy
7 October 2024
We have launched a new platform that makes it easier than ever for locals to have their say and remain up to date on the borough’s future climate strategy for 2025 to 2030. Whether you live, work or study in the borough, this is your chance to directly influence our sustainability plans and help shape a greener future.
The new consultation site is interactive and user-friendly, allowing residents to share ideas, pinpoint thoughts and priorities for specific areas on an interactive map, and view real-time feedback from others in the community. You’ll also get access to the latest project updates, news, upcoming events, and a complete project timeline. Sign up for direct email notifications to stay in the loop on every step of the strategy’s progress.
Cllr Julia Neden-Watts, Chair of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sports Committee, said:
"We’re committed to ensuring that local voices are at the heart of our climate strategy. We’ve already been working in close collaboration with residents, businesses, and community groups, but we need everyone’s input to meet our goal of becoming a Net Zero Borough by 2043. Your feedback is crucial to making sure our plans reflect the needs, concerns and perspectives of all communities."
Residents who don’t have specific feedback for a certain area can still make their voice heard by completing the general survey about Richmond’s climate and sustainability efforts.
The feedback collected through the platform will play a vital role in informing the drafting and focus of our new Climate & Nature Strategy, which is set to be published in June 2025. This new strategy builds on the our 2019 Climate Emergency Strategy, which was the first to lay out its vision for addressing climate change and its commitment to becoming carbon neutral as an organisation by 2030.
The new platform also features essential resources like details on our climate action microgrant programme, the Richmond Resident Action Pack, and the 2024 Annual Report tracking progress on the current strategy.
Get involved now and help create a more sustainable future in Richmond upon Thames. Complete the online survey to share your thoughts by Tuesday 31 December 2024.
