Volunteer for a meaningful Christmas Day dinner

Community news on behalf of Cocoon - Care After Care | 9 October 2024

Richmond-based charity Cocoon - Care After Care is recruiting volunteers to support their annual Christmas Day event for care-experienced young adults in the borough who would otherwise be spending the day alone.

The charity is looking for volunteers who are available on Christmas Day and would like to do something different and wonderful.

  • Chef: If you are a qualified chef, you can volunteer to lead the kitchen team on the day which will cater for around 90 guests. There will be kitchen helpers and servers to support the chef and a food team sourcing the ingredients
  • General support: If you are over 25 years old and agree to a DBS check, you can volunteer to provide a warm and welcoming event for 50 guests

For more information, please contact the organisers on xmas@cocooncareaftercare.org.uk.

The event on Wednesday 25 December, which is now in its 8th year, treats fifty young adults aged 18 to 25 to a traditional Christmas Day with full Christmas dinner and all the trimmings and entertainment throughout the day. All guests leave with a bag of high-quality gifts and a hamper of essentials, all made possible by the generous local community.
