Twickenham Green welcomes families to discover the joy of cargo bikes
2 October 2025
On Friday 26 September, Twickenham Green hosted the borough’s first Cargo and Cakes session, bringing together families, cycling enthusiasts and curious newcomers to explore the benefits of cargo bikes.
Organised by the Richmond Cargo Collective, Solve the School Run and Richmond Council, the event offered residents the opportunity to ask questions, test ride a range of bikes and enjoy free cake in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Cargo bikes, capable of carrying up to three children and their belongings, can be a practical and sustainable alternative to the car for school runs and local journeys.
Events like Cargo and Cakes help to raise awareness of the options available and encourage more residents to consider cycling as a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly way to get around the borough.
Find out more about the schemes we have in Richmond to help create a convenient and safe environment for cycling as we strive to become the cargo bike capital of London.
