Nominations open for the inaugural Richmond Moves Awards

Do you know someone making a difference through sport and physical activity in Richmond? Are they doing things that help people in the borough move more? Are they a talented athlete competing at the top of their sport? Nominate them and help us celebrate the people and organisations helping our borough move more.

The new Richmond Moves Awards will celebrate the individuals, clubs, schools, volunteers and organisations making a positive contribution to active lives across the borough.

Councillor Elizabeth Gant, Vice Chair of the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sport Committee, said: “We are incredibly fortunate in Richmond upon Thames to have so many people who give their time, enthusiasm and energy to help others be active. From coaches and volunteers to schools, clubs and community organisations, their contributions make physical activity more accessible and bring people together across our communities.

“These awards give us the chance to celebrate those helping to make Richmond one of London’s most active boroughs, and I encourage residents to nominate someone who deserves recognition.”

Categories include:

• Club/Organisation of the Year
• The Inclusive Activity Award
• Volunteer of the Year
• The Mayor’s Award
• Active Communities Award
• Young Volunteer of the Year
• Active School of the Year
• Coach/Instructor of the Year
• Junior Sports Person of the Year
• Sports Person of the Year

Nominations close on Thursday 26 November.

Finalists will be invited to a special awards ceremony at The Stoop in Twickenham in December, where the winners will be announced and the borough’s contribution to sport and physical activity celebrated.
