Shows at Richmond Shakespeare Society this autumn

Community news on behalf of Richmond Shakespeare Society | 12 September 2024

Though the Richmond Shakespeare Society’s outdoor summer shows are over, preparations are now underway for an exciting autumn/winter season at their theatre on Twickenham’s Embankment.

David Mamet’s masterpiece, American Buffalo, will be on stage to kick off the new season. The show provides a funny and vicious look at the morals of capitalism and 'big business' writ exceedingly small by three petty criminals.

  • Date: Saturday 14 September to Saturday 21 September 2024
  • Location: The Mary Wallace Theatre, The Embankment, Twickenham, TW1 3DU

The autumn/winter season will also include the rarely performed Arden of Faversham (co-authored by young William Shakespeare no less). Based on an actual crime of the period, this 1592 tragedy, with deep streaks of savage comedy, was the first play to foreground ordinary people.

  • Date: Saturday 26 October to Saturday 2 November 2024
  • Location: The Mary Wallace Theatre, The Embankment, Twickenham, TW1 3DU

Tickets for Aden of Faversham will be available from 23 September 2024.
