Teddington Library Community Garden receives award for enhancing local environment

Community news on behalf of Squire’s Garden Centres Twickenham | 4 September 2024

Teddington Library Community Garden received the ‘Love Where You Live’ award for their outstanding efforts in enhancing community engagement and providing health and wellbeing benefits through horticulture.

Hosted by Squire’s Garden Centres Twickenham, the ‘Love Where You Live’ award provides not only financial support but also practical advice from Squire’s horticulturalists.

The awarded funds supported various works in the library community garden, benefiting garden users and the wider community. Over the spring and summer months, the funds have contributed to the purchase of two trellises for climbers and a garden mirror on the back wall, creating a lovely focal point to the garden. Additionally, volunteers have added new planting and created a completely new bed in the middle of the garden.

The plants chosen from Squires were selected for their pollinator-friendly and wildlife-friendly properties which has resulted in an increase in biodiversity. Bees, ladybirds and butterflies are regular visitors to the garden.
