Donate your clothes for good causes

Community news on behalf of Traid | 5 September 2024

This September, charity retailer Traid is running a free home clothing collection scheme where residents can donate clothes, shoes, accessories and household linens to help fund good causes in the fashion industry.

As Zero Waste Week begins, it is the perfect time to explore the many ways we can reduce landfill waste, boost our recycling efforts and contribute to a more sustainable borough.

Residents looking to clear out their clothes for the new season are invited to join Traid’s Closet Clear-out Challenge, which aims to collect 250,000 garments. Your donations will help support the people who make our clothes, from garment workers to organic cotton farmers.

Residents are welcome to sort through the clothes you no longer wear, book a free collection slot online or at 020 8733 2595, and a Traid branded van will come to collect your donations. Let’s transform fashion for the better, one wardrobe at a time!

Our Climate Action Microgrant awards between £100 and £500 to community groups, schools, individuals or non-profits to run events, activities and initiatives that promote positive behaviours in the community around climate change and sustainability.

If you’re looking to upcycle your cloths or explore your love of stitching, the Library of Things  in Twickenham can be very useful. They have sewing machines and a range of tools available to borrow. You can also enjoy a 10% discount off your first rental using the code TAKE10.
