Join the Squad: Thamesians Women’s Rugby invites new players to the pitch

Community news on behalf of Thamesians Women’s Rugby | 1 September 2026

Looking to try something new, get fit, and join a fantastic group of local women? Thamesians Women’s Rugby Team is recruiting new players across the borough for the upcoming season, and they'd love for you to join the squad!

Over the past year, their team has grown rapidly, welcoming more than 15 new players. They are an ambitious, inclusive, and supportive group of women (ages 18+) of all abilities. Whether you've played for years, are returning after a break, or have never held a rugby ball in your life, there is a place for you here. You don’t need to be the fastest or strongest player on the pitch - commitment, enthusiasm, and a willingness to give it a go are what matter most.

They work hard on the pitch, but the vibrant community off the pitch is just as important. Highlights from the recent season include a summer tour to Paris - where an intense heatwave turned their match against RC Suresnes Femmes into an afternoon of barbecues and water fights - and upcoming squad outings to see the Red Roses take on New Zealand. From themed social nights to casual pub meetups, you'll gain a whole new circle of friends alongside a great sport!

Come down to a session, meet the team, and see what they’re all about!
